BE THE MATCH– You will receive a FREE kit in the mail to swab the inside of your mouth–it’s that simple! My sister introduced me to this easy process and I want to spread the word! TELL YOUR FRIENDS!  My little brother had leukemia and I was a key role in saving his life by donating some of my bone marrow. Unfortunately,  not every patient gets lucky to have a match in the family! It is the best feeling in the world when you can help save a life!  I did it, so can you!!!

The urgent need for minority donors–Since most tissue traits are inherited, there is a better chance of finding a bone marrow match within the patient’s same racial and ethnic group. Patients of all races and ethnicities are served by bone marrow registries. Minorities continue to be increasingly under-represented in the donor registry and therefore, have less chance of finding HLA-matched bone marrow compared with white people. In particular, donors who are American Indian, Alaskan Native, Asian, African-American, Hispanic, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and donors from multiple racial or ethnic backgrounds are urgently needed.
